Advanced Muscle Energy Course Description

The Advanced Muscle Energy Course is designed to take the basic principles of muscle energy and adapt fine-tuning for precise localization in the treatment of an individual somatic dysfunction.  The course will incorporate the principles and teachings of Edward Stiles, DO, FAAO Dist., whose extensive mentorship under Fred Mitchell, Sr., DO provides a direct link to the original development of MET. The course will also incorporate the Fred Mitchell Sr. patient-specific OMT approach and the adaptations Dr. Stiles made by incorporating what he learned from his mentorship with George Andrew Laughlin DO with the Still/Laughlin Functional techniques. Core concepts will include Tensegrity, Fryette’s laws of spinal mechanics, translation, and utilization of sacral axes. Together, these principles will elevate a practitioner’s proficiency in the use of muscle energy techniques.


Biographie Statement:
Jennifer Kingery, D.O. graduated in 2006 from Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine – which is now the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then completed an Integrated FM/NMM residency at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY and is actively boarded by the AOBFM and AOBNMM. She has dedicated her medical career to teaching Family Medicine and Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine residents as well as caring for her own patient panel. She has been a program director for an ONMM residency since 2015. Currently she is the program director for OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital ONMM Residency Program, serves as a core faculty member for the OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, and the OhioHealth physician liaison for OMM. Dr. Kingery is also the outgoing chair for the ACGME ONMM Review Committee. She serves as a member of the Postdoctoral Training Committee for the American Academy of Osteopathy. She is a member of the Doodad Mafia, a group that works closely with Edward Stiles, D.O., FAAO, DIst. in teaching courses and expanding his teaching model. She has also presented at national conferences including the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO), Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education(ACGME), and the Osteopathic Medical Education Conference(OMED). In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 sons as well as baking.
